Professional Development Seminar Series: Mentor-Mentee Relationships

The NC TraCS Professional Development Seminar Series is open to anyone seeking exposure to foundational concepts in clinical/translational research such as communication skills, finding funding, career planning, and implementing research. The Mentor-Mentee Relationships module focuses on building effective, supportive, and sustainable mentoring relationships that foster professional growth, collaboration, and career development.

Seminars in the Mentor-Mentee Relationships module are presented from December 9 - December 19, in-person on Tuesdays from 12 - 2 p.m. ET and repeated via Zoom on Fridays from 12 - 2 p.m ET.

SHIRE 101: Introducing UNC’s New Platform for Data-Driven Clinical Research

Join the UNC School of Medicine Office of Research for the fourth session in the AI in Research series as Emily Pfaff, Paul Kovach, and JP Powers, present an in-depth look at SHIRE.

As of November 3, the Secure Health Informatics Research Environment (SHIRE) is the default environment for data-driven research using UNC Health’s electronic health record data.

In this webinar, presenters will demonstrate everything you need to know to get started, from logging in and finding your data, to starting analysis, to budgeting for your next project. They'll also touch on more advanced features, such as deploying large language models to leverage AI tools in your research.

The Secure Health Informatics Research Environment (SHIRE) is a new secure cloud computing environment built through a partnership between UNC School of Medicine, NC TraCS Institute, and UNC Health, where users can securely work with sensitive data from UNC Health’s electronic health record (EHR).
