TraCS announces new K12 Scholars for 2026

The Gene Orringer Junior Faculty Career Development Program (TraCS K12) is pleased to announce the names of our new cohort of CTSA K12 Scholars, who will be starting their appointments on July 1, 2026:

    School of Information and Library Science - Carolina Health Informatics Program and Division of Healthcare Engineering
  • Marissa DiPiero, PhD
    Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities
  • Elise Hickman, PhD
    School of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics (Allergy and Immunology)
  • Brittany Raffa, MD
    School of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics (General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine)
  • Yuri Sebastião, PhD
    School of Medicine - Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Global Women's Health)

The CTSA TraCS K12 Program is a mentored career development award in translational science. Under the direction of mentors and TraCS K leadership, Michelle Hernandez and Jon Juliano, scholars will conduct translational science projects and receive training to develop leadership and mentoring skills in the principles of translational science—and learn how those principles can be applied to develop solutions for research barriers and inefficiencies.
