New TraCS program offers funding to support patient and community engagement in research
Engagement in research leads to studies that are more relevant, useful, and reflective of patient and community needs.
The Patient and Community Engagement in Research (PaCER) program at NC TraCS has launched the Engagement Voucher Program to help fund and support activities that catalyze engaged clinical and translational research.
Vouchers of up to $5,000 can be used to support engagement-related activities during the pre-award period, including partner compensation, in-person meeting expenses (venue, food, transportation, childcare), and translation and interpretation.
Funded voucher projects will ideally support pre-award activities and lead to the pursuit and obtainment of future funding for engaged research and/or scientific products (abstracts, manuscripts). Post award engagement activities will also be considered if focused on developing or testing innovative or novel approaches (e.g., comparative methods, evaluation) that contribute to the evidence base related to the impact of engagement in research. All projects must be feasible to complete within a one-year timeframe.
