UNC clinical trial space opportunity
In early 2021, the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Disease Clinical Trials Unit opened an off-campus research unit to facilitate COVID-19 treatment and vaccination trials.
While the site remains a valuable resource for the Institute's team and participants, some of the initial work the space was designed for is coming to a close. The Institute is now open to preliminary discussions to gauge interest from the broader UNC Research community in partnering in the use of this space through 2023.
Knowing if there is interest from other departments will help guide next steps for clinic space, as there are details to manage including cost sharing, staff redundancy, scheduling, etc.
The research unit, Global Clinical Research – North, is located at 1828 MLK Jr. Blvd. in the Chapel Hill North shopping center around the corner from Harris Teeter.
The facility includes:
- 6 exam rooms
- BSL1 lab (with existing CLIA testing waivers for HIV, COVID-19, and hCG as well as approval by the UNC EHS biosafety division)
- small pharmacy with ambient and refrigerated pyxis
- locking chart storage
- staff drop down space
