Learn the basics of NIH in NC State's 2022 Grantsmanship Series

The Proposal Development Unit in the Office of Research and Innovation at NC State University invites everyone in the NC State community and the broader NC TraCS Institute community to participate in the NIH @ NC State Fall Grantsmanship Series.

These seminars will acquaint you with the basics of NIH. Registration is required to receive an appointment with zoom details.

Series Details

Navigating NIH
9/15/2022, 12-1 p.m.

With 27 Institutes and Centers and a two-stage review process, NIH can be overwhelming for new researchers. This session will help people navigate the NIH to find their funding opportunity, funding Institute or Center, peer review study section, and program officer contact.

The ABCs of RPGs
10/13/2022, 12-1 p.m.

Almost 60% of NIH's budget is spent on a class of grants called the RPGs (Research Project Grants). This session will walk through the most common RPG activity codes, such as R01, R21, R03, U01, and P01, and discuss why a researcher may choose a particular activity code for a given project.

RePORTER Tips and Tricks
11/10/2022, 12-1 p.m.

NIH provides information about funded awards on the report.nih.gov website. This session will walk through some common searches and highlight some tips for finding what you want. Demonstrated searches will include finding a program officer in your field, identifying similar grants at NC State, and viewing the success rate for a given Institute or Center.
