Protocol Builder now available at UNC

Protocol Builder is an online tool designed to help investigators develop clinical protocols with all of the elements needed for efficient scientific and ethical review by the UNC Scientific Review Committee and UNC IRB.

Anyone with a UNC ONYEN, including UNC affiliates at other institutions, can log in to Protocol Builder and start building a protocol at app.protocolbuilderpro.com/register/unc-chapel-hill

Protocol Builder has many different protocol templates, including templates customized for use by UNC investigators. Templates for observational, social behavioral, drug, device, repository, FDA, NIH and other types of studies are included with Protocol Builder.

Protocol Builder has features that allow for easy communication and collaboration between study team members. It simplifies version control, tracking changes, messaging between team members, and other elements of protocol writing that can cause logistical challenges.

In addition to helping investigators create a complete and well-formatted protocol for submission to the SRC or IRB, Protocol Builder is also a great tool to use for training purposes: graduate students, residents, fellows and junior investigators can use this tool to explore different types of protocols and study designs. Protocol Builder guides investigators though the process of creating protocols that serve as practical and comprehensive manuals for operationalizing their studies.
