North Carolina Biotechnology Center: Flash Grant Cycle 3 call for proposals

The North Carolina Biotechnology (NCBioTech) Center is accepting proposals for its Flash Grant Program. The NCBioTech Flash Grant Program is in its third submission cycle of fiscal year 2021. Up to $20,000 may be requested for short, highly focused projects. The submissions due date is Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.

Cycle 3 is a targeted round and is open only to proposals submitted by:

  • North Carolina universities/colleges with 2020 annual NIH research budgets less than nine million dollars in support of innovation in any life sciences sector, except Class I medical devices or consumer products (see the Flash FAQs for NIH award data)
  • Any North Carolina university in support of life sciences research that seeks to understand and address health factors that underpin disparities in disease outcomes in patients. Social sciences-based and health care delivery projects are not eligible

NCBiotech’s Flash Grant program aims to identify and energize the most creative ideas that exhibit early indications of commercial potential. Flash Grants support short, tightly focused research projects in these two categories:

  1. To obtain crucial proof-of-concept or feasibility testing data necessary to suggest the disruptive potential of a life sciences technology
  2. To conduct the final experiment(s) needed to advance a basic life sciences research program into the translational research phase of development

To learn more and apply, visit the NCBioTech Flash Grants page.

NCBioTech is an economic development organization that helps bring life science ideas to market. The center connects companies with university researchers and introduce entrepreneurs to potential funders.
