NC State offers researchers access to new Centennial Biomedical Clinical Manufacturing Facility

NC State's Comparative Medicine Institute has opened its Biomedical Clinical Manufacturing Facility, and offers UNC researchers and faculty access to its new space and resources. Focusing on stem cells and regenerative medicine, the facility supports Phase I human clinical trials and is particularly helpful to faculty and early startups.

The facility was developed to produce novel products under controls consistent with US FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

Work in the facility focuses on isolation and expansion of human cells. Under cGMP controls, manipulated cells will be of appropriate quality for use in Phase I, first in human, clinical trials in accordance with the IND protocol controlling the work.

NC State personnel can work with researchers and technical experts in a cost-effective manner to ensure that the protocol is being implemented correctly. While many GMPs charge 24/7 for the duration of the campaign, NC State charges are based on time inside the facility, which drastically reduces costs. They have an extensive scientific network that can help optimize protocols, design improved manufacturing solutions, and address scale up issues.

NC State/UNC collaboration is already underway at this facility! For more information, visit research.ncsu.edu/cmi/biomedical-manufacturing-facility or contact Jason Stover, Facility Manager at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
