On Thursday May 18th at 4PM in Bondurant 2020, Marc Drezner, MD will be presenting a lecture entitled The PerPHEXing Cure of X-Linked Hypophosphatemia.

Dr. Drezner’s pioneering work in the bone and mineral field led to the discovery of a new disease, “Pseudohypoparathyroidism, Type 2”; cloning the gene underlying the most common form of familial rickets; and defining and providing the name for a newly conceived hormone, phosphatonin.

In the hypophosphatemic diseases of man, Dr. Drezner has helped set the research and clinical agendas worldwide and has contributed to defining new therapeutic approaches for these diseases. He will talk about a “cure” for X-linked hypophosphatemia recently licensed for development.

Dr. Drezner is the CTSA PI, Senior Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research, Executive Director for the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) and Professor of Medicine in the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was head of the section of endocrinology from 2000-2011 and GCRC director from 2005-2007 before becoming the founding director of ICTR, the Madison home of the CTSA. Dr. Drezner was formerly Division Chief of Endocrinology at Duke University.
