A Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) Charrette is a tested model for enhancing the capacity of academic institutions and communities to function as effective research partners.

CBPR Charrettes offer facilitated consultation sessions for community-academic partnerships interested in strengthening their research approach, engaging new stakeholders, or building their research partnership.

A key innovation of this model is the involvement of Community Expert consultants, partners from diverse communities with extensive research experience who ensure the perspective of communities is included in the research process.

Charrettes harness their expertise in concert with academic experts to provide intensive, tailored technical assistance in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and research development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination. In addition, Charrettes provide an effective tool for measuring partnership growth over time, the Multidimensional Assessment of Partnerships (MAP).
