Workshop offered: Multi-Institutional Mock Study Section

logos for sponsors

Learn the process of NIH grant review (or "peer review") by taking the role of an NIH Study Section reviewer, reviewing a grant, and discussing it with peers and experienced faculty.

Workshop sections:
Part 1: Training on what happens in a study section.
Part 2: A virtual mock study section. Participants will apply what is learned in Part 1 by taking the role of a reviewer.

Postdocs and junior faculty will be assigned an actual grant submitted to the NIH. Participants will review the grant according to the review criteria, present their review during the study section, and participate in the discussion with peers and with the guidance of experienced faculty chairs.

Predocs can attend the training, access the grant materials, and observe the study section—but WILL NOT be assigned a grant to review.

Participants will need to devote time to attend one of the trainings, plan for time to review the grant ahead of the Mock Study Section, and attend the virtual session on October 28.

Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2026 | 9am – Noon EDT
Type of Grants: K- and R-level
Cost: Free
Location: Zoom
