UNC Data Science Day scheduled for September 26
Join the School of Data Science & Society on Thursday, September 26, 2024 for their second annual Data Science Day.
This year's theme is Data Science for Science and Society. The Carolina community is invited to showcase their work and the transformative impact of data science on scientific endeavors and societal well-being. This campus-wide conference aims to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations within and across theoretical advances and real-world applications.
Check out the Data Science Day agenda for speaker and session information. The event is free, but registration is required. The event which will be held at the Carolina Union from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All Carolina faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a portion of the event or the whole day.
Poster Sessions
Data science has a transformative impact on scientific endeavors and societal well-being. This call aims to showcase innovative research conducted by Carolina undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdocs. The goal of the event is to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and create networking opportunities.

Notification of Acceptance: Thursday, September 12, 2024
Poster Session: Thursday, September 26, 2024 2:50 - 4:30 p.m. in the Carolina Union (however, posters will be on display throughout the entire duration of the event)
Flash Talks
The School of Data Science & Society is now accepting submissions for three-minute flash talks on existing research or research ideas surrounding the topic of "Data Science for Science and Society." Submissions should include only ONE slide of information. Submissions with more than one slide or that include animations will be denied.
Talks will be selected randomly during the event, so not all will be presented. Printouts of slides will be available for researchers to reference during the researcher networking session.
