HPDP releases planning grant RFA
The UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP) has released its Request for Applications (RFA) for one-year planning grants of up to $5,000 to help UNC faculty and other researchers conduct pilot projects in health promotion/disease prevention research.
Researchers who currently affiliate with the Center as Research Fellows as well as other UNC researchers new to HPDP are encouraged to apply.
HPDP is interested in funding pilot projects that will lead to new applications for extramural research funding. It is expected that HPDP will administer future grant applications resulting from the pilot project, and HPDP will provide comprehensive grants management support for the researcher.
Eligibility: UNC faculty who hold at least a 0.75 FTE appointment (fixed-term, tenured, or tenure-track) and EHRA-NF independent researchers are eligible to apply.
Award amount: HPDP expects to make two awards of up to $5,000 apiece.
Application deadline: May 1, 2023 at 5:00 pm EST.

The UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention addresses pressing health problems by collaborating with communities to conduct research, provide training, and translate research findings into policy and practice. The Center seeks to reduce health disparities through an emphasis on community-engaged research. The CDC selected HPDP to be one of its first three Prevention Research Centers in 1986. Now comprised of 26 academic institutions, the PRC program is an interdependent network of community, academic, and public health partners that conduct prevention research and promote practices proven to promote good health.
