UNC School of Medicine Ranks High in ‘Best Grad School’ Report

CHAPEL HILL, NC – The University of North Carolina School of Medicine is ranked 5th in the country for primary care education and tied for 25th for research (6th among public universities) as a part of U.S. News & World Report's 2023 edition of "America's Best Graduate Schools."

The School of Medicine ranks 3rd in family medicine, 25th in internal medicine (6th among public schools), and 38th in biomedical engineering, a joint department with NC State University.

U.S. News ranks business, education, engineering, law, nursing and medicine programs annually, but various disciplines and specialties within each category are ranked periodically, not every year, including the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, which ranked 1st in the country two years ago. The U.S. News & World Report website features a searchable database by category; note the year at the top left portion of each page searched.

UNC-Chapel Hill ranks high in several other categories, including the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, which ranked 2nd overall (1st among public universities); Biostatistics ranked 5th; the School of Nursing Master's Programs tied for 8th and its DNP programs ranked 14th.
