Janette Goins receives 2020 Dean’s Performance Award

Janette Goins, RN, BSN has been awarded the 2020 Dean's Performance Award for Research. Goins serves as Director of Nursing for the NC TraCS Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) where she has made notable contributions to research processes and innovations supporting 208 research studies from 85 faculty.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Goins continues to provide essential support and expertise to virtually all COVID-related clinical trials. She has provided fundamental operational and logistical support to rapidly adapt the Respiratory Diagnostics Center to accommodate COVID studies, as well as crucial support for trials such as the HERO study and ScreenNC. Goins has also supported infectious disease investigators to facilitate vaccine and therapeutic trials, including preparation for multiple facilities for COVID positive patient studies.
The Dean's Performance Award is an annual honor and cash award that highlights exceptional UNC School of Medicine staff that play a key role in making UNC School of Medicine (UNC SOM) the nation's top public school of medicine. Each UNC SOM department, center, institute, or administration can submit up to six nominations.

The NC TraCS CTRC provides a variety of research support services, including access to inpatient and outpatient examination rooms, a staff of highly-skilled research professionals, and specimen processing and short term storage facilities.
