Communicating with study participants through your personal phone or computer?

Working remotely has presented us all with new opportunities and challenges. One challenge that has impacted our clinical research activities has been the inability to make and receive phone calls to and from our study participants without sharing personal phone numbers.

The School of Medicine CRSO has worked with ITS to offer a new University phone service with AT&T allowing personnel to make and receive phone calls via a personal phone or computer "masked" with a University phone number.

Several options are available. Depending on the individual selections made, added phone charges will range from $0 - $18.11 per month. Any applicable charges will be routed to the appropriate University account, just as with existing University phone services.

Full details related to fees and services are available at med.unc.edu/crso/resources/tools-and-services/att-phone-service. School of Medicine Employees may use the form at the end of the page to request services.

If you are NOT a School of Medicine employee, you should request services by submitting a ticket via UNC Service Now .

NOTE: This solution is primarily geared towards personnel who currently have a University phone line (area code 919). Personnel who currently have a UNC Health phone line (area code 984) may have other solutions available (e.g. Jabber) that do not require obtaining a new phone line. We are working to gather more information on services available for UNC Health phone lines and will disseminate that information when available.
