Joseph DeSimone to Lead Kenan Institute

Joseph DeSimone, Ph.D., Chancellor’s Eminent Professor of Chemistry and director of the Carolina Center for Nanotechnology Excellence at UNC and co-founder of UNC startup Liquidia Technologies, which recently formed a collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline, has been named director of the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, part of the Kenan-Flagler Business School. The Kenan Institute is a research and consulting organization which promotes collaboration among business, government and academia to foster private enterprise worldwide and use of private-sector resources to serve the public interest.

"I am excited to have Joe DeSimone as the director of the Kenan Institute,” said Don Rose, director of Carolina KickStart, a program of UNC’s NIH Clinical and Translational Awards (CTSA) that helps scientists commercialize discoveries. “Joe's experience in developing and commercializing game-changing innovations will help take the Institute in exciting directions."

For more details and comments from DeSimone, see this story in the Raleigh News & Observer.
