Clinical and Translational Research Center Open House a Success

UNC's Clinical & Translational Research Center (CTRC) moved into its new home located on the 1st floor of the Burnett-Womack building on Wednesday, September 30.

The CTRC held an open house on the preceding day with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the move to the new space. Dr. John Buse (the CTSA Co-PI) opened the ceremony. Dr. George Retsch-Bogart, medical director of the unit, also made remarks. Dean of the UNC School of Medicine and CEO of UNC Health Care, Dr. William Roper, spoke and then cut the ribbon to officially open the unit .

"Thanks to all who attended the CTRC Open House on September 29th," said Janette Goins, Director of Nursing for the CTRC. "We had a great turnout with over 100 people touring the new outpatient facility."

Features of the new facility include:

  • Larger reception/waiting area
  • 10 exam rooms, 4 infusion chairs, 2 extended stay rooms, 1 consult room and a procedural care suite
  • Large coordinator workroom
  • Provider workroom
  • Increased lab processing space
  • Conference room
  • Adult and Pediatric Code Blue coverage provided by UNC Healthcare

The CTRC's mission is to improve the health and well-being of the people of North Carolina and beyond by ensuring an optimal professional environment for clinical innovation, quality care, resource stewardship and research leadership.
