Leadership

The ISP leadership team has extensive experience in using a variety of frameworks, theories, and methodologies to promote diversity and inclusion in research. Areas of expertise include Latino health, health disparities methods, aging, pediatrics, disabilities, life course, and rural health.

Dr. Aiello is Professor of Epidemiology, Leader of the Social Epidemiology Program and a Carolina Population Center Fellow at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health. Over the past 11 years, her research has integrated approaches from epidemiology, sociology, genetics, immunology, and clinical research to address complex health questions across the life course. She has taught numerous classes on social determinants of health and methods for conducting field research. She has trained many students in conducting health equity research and has led efforts to support diversity in health research and training.
