The NC TraCS Qualitative Research Service (QRS), provided by CaSE and the Inclusive Science Program, offers a variety of services to support faculty, staff, students, and community partners conducting qualitative research projects.

Many of our services are provided free of charge. Billable services are charged at a rate of $68/hour during business hours (M-F 8am-5pm) and $92/hour after business hours. Before billable work can begin, NC TraCS requires a signed Memorandum of Understanding outlining the agreed upon scope of work, timeline, and billing/invoicing.

Consultations

Our experts offer no-cost short-term consultations on any aspect of your qualitative research study, including guidance on qualitative research best practices and approaches for specific projects, review of qualitative data collection instruments, and observation and feedback on mock interviews or focus groups.

Study Support

On a limited basis, we can provide technical, study-specific support with a focus on training, capacity building, and mentorship of diverse study teams (fee applies). Types of support include: collaborating with study teams to develop guides and qualitative study protocols, observing and providing feedback on interviews and focus groups, and delivering tailored qualitative research trainings to English and Spanish-speaking study teams.

Trainings

We offer periodic trainings on qualitative research-related topics. NC TraCS-sponsored trainings are provided at no cost and are available to everyone, including those outside of UNC. Upcoming trainings can be viewed on the CaSE Trainings & Resources page and are also listed in the NC TraCS email newsletter.

On a limited basis, we can provide qualitative research guest lectures to undergraduate and graduate-level courses.

UNC Qualitative Research Network

The UNC Qualitative Research Network listserv is a forum for resource and information sharing, as well as a space to seek connections, support, and feedback from others engaging in qualitative research at UNC-Chapel Hill. The listserv is available to faculty, staff, and students at UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC Health and is managed by NC TraCS and the Odum Institute.
