You’ve heard about the NC TraCS Institute but what is it and what is Translational Research?

This workshop will answer both of those questions! The Translational Research Workshop will introduce participants to translational research – what it is, why it is important to community health, and how to become involved. This training will also provide examples of successful translational research projects, a description of the services and programs offered by NC TraCS, and funding opportunities of interest. A question and answer session with an NC TraCS leadership correspondent will follow the presentation.

• Describe the specific services, programs and training initiatives offered by NC TraCS
• Detail the steps involved in becoming a member of NC TraCS and what benefits that entails
• Describe, and answer questions regarding , the NC TraCS pilot funding program
• Answer any other audience questions regarding translational research or NC TraCS
• Describe the role that NC TraCS plays in engaging community organizations, health care providers and community members in conducting translational research
• Define “Translational Research”
• Articulate the importance of translational research in improving community health
• Describe the process by which translational research brings health information and discoveries to the public to improve health
• Understand the difference between T1 and T2 translational research
• Discuss real-world translational research projects, and understand their contribution to science and to improving community health
