Carolina KickStart (CKS), formerly NC BioStart, is a core program of the CTSA-funded NC Translational and Clinical Sciences (TraCS) Institute. The program was developed to provide support for faculty in commercializing biomedical technologies through startup generation. Specific objectives include:
- Educate faculty and students on how to commercialize technology through company formation,
- Mentor the faculty through the technology development and venture formation process,
- Fund promising technologies and emerging companies through a grant program
- Connect faculty with outside resources that can provide services, advice, funding, and management expertise,
- Create incubation services and expertise to early-stage companies.
